Besides seeing all of the government buildings and monuments in DC, we also visited a couple of museums - the Air and Space museum being one of them. The Air and Space museum has two campuses - one on the National Mall and the other out by Dulles Airport known as the Annex. We didn’t make the Annex but we did make it to the one on the mall.
It is an awesome place to visit as they have items from the birth of aviation all the way to the space program.
Here is the spacesuit Neil Armstrong wore when he first stepped foot on the moon.
If you look closely at the face shield, you can see a reflection of Armstrong’s “One small step for man…” quote from the spacesuit's display case.
From Brave’s Leo AI:
This suit is an A7-L pressure garment manufactured by ILC Industries and was worn by Armstrong during the historic first moonwalk in July 1969. It was transferred to the museum in 1971.
After being removed from public view in 2006 for conservation, the suit was restored and unveiled to the public on July 16, 2019, exactly 50 years after the Apollo 11 launch. This restoration was funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign that raised over $500,000, allowing conservators to stabilize the fabric and create a climate-controlled display case that slows degradation while preserving embedded lunar dust.
