I was recently inspired to go through some of my old photos and reprocess them. This is one of those.
I took this 16 years ago when high dynamic range (HDR) photography was all the rage. I thought my work back then was pretty good. Looking back at most of it now, I realize it was just “clown vomit” as David Nightingale would say.
Since many years have passed, photo software has become infinitely better. So I thought it was time to take some of my not so clown-vomity images and make them a little better. However, back in 2010 when I was just getting into this, once I did the HDR processing, I dumped the raw files so I don’t have any of the originals with which to process. I was trying to keep space on my computer’s hard drive. Bad idea. All I have are the HDRs before I applied my final edits. So, I retweaked the HDR you see below.
This is the Capitol of Texas building in Austin taken at sunset. I think it looks a little better even though it is still kind of HDRy but I like it more than what I had before. Maybe I’ll have to get back there and shoot another version.
Let me know what you think!
